Opening weekend of trout season is upon us and all the campgrounds and resorts around the state will be packed. The same will be true for the next and perhaps the following weekends. If you haven’t got a reservation or made plans about where to go and are afraid that there won’t be any “room at the inn”. Here’s couple of ideas. There are at least three resorts and a State Park at Conconully, near Omak. I have been here on opening day in the past and there was still room at the State Park. Another great trout and bass lake is Curlew which is near Republic. I have been to the State Park here on major weekends and it was about half full. It is a wonderful park with all the facilities but doesn’t fill up, even on Memorial Weekend. There is always room in the unimproved camping areas at Jameson Lake. If you just want to put your boat in the water and not stay over, Moses Lake has lots of boar ramps and although not noted for trout fishing offers excellent bass and perch fishing and the walleye fishing should be good by now.
