By Dave Graybill

I did a presentation on fishing on Rufus Woods Reservoir last Wednesday night at Bob Feil Boats and Motors and it got me excited about getting up there and doing some fishing myself. I have posted some photos of trout I have got while fishing from Brandts Landing, and that’s where I plan to go, in hopes of getting some of those nice triploids. I will be approaching the challenge of hooking a couple exactly the way I described at the seminar. I will be using a medium weight spinning rod, set up with a sliding sinker rig and a single hook. My favorite bait, which is a chunk of marshmallow and a piece of jarred shrimp is what will hit the water first, and, of course with a dab of Graybill’s Guide Formula. You have to cast a ways offshore here, as there is a shallow shelf that extends out a distance. There is often a weed line that you can see from shore and I like to put my bait in front of it. This will be my first trip to Brandts this winter, and I will be sure to let you know how I do!
