I am looking forward to this week. I have hopes of getting out on the water on Lake Roosevelt. Just for the heck of it I checked back in my archives to see what I was doing at this time last year. Wow. I didn’t remember the great day I had with Austin and his two clients the first week of January. We launched at Keller and got into fish immediately. Most of them were rainbow. The smallest was a 13-incher, but most of them were 14 to 19 inches, and we got 20 of them. We also got into the kokanee pretty good for that season. We got five of them and they were 13, 14, 15, 18 and 22 inches long. I have had some very good reports of kokanee catches being made already this year, and I consider it pretty early in the season. I also looked at what I was doing later in the month on Lake Chelan. In my Weekly Column in the NCW Nickel Ads I described a day that saw limits of small kokanee taken in less than two hours. I bet we’ll be able to that again on Chelan this year.
