The fishing in Central Washington is good to excellent for a variety of species and now the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife has changed the fishing rules on a whole bunch of lakes, so anglers can catch as many as they want, due to planned rehabs. The action which removes the daily bag and size limits, gear and motor restrictions, and change of season for game fish on lakes and streams scheduled for rehabilitation. The news release should appear on the department’s web site soon, and some of the more interesting listings include lakes in Grant and Okanogan counties. In Grant County both Beda Lake and Brookies Lake are listed. Beda is a very popular fly fishing lake and should hold some dandy rainbow. The suspended rules season on these lakes runs through September 14th. There is a long list of other lakes in Grant County that will be open to no-limit fishing, and anglers should look for the notice on the web site to see them all. In Okanogan County Big Buck Lake, also known as Shaw, and Starzman Lake, near Brewster are listed under the no-limit rule until October 5th.
