The folks at Mar Don Resort started a dock fishing tournament a couple of years ago and it has been so popular it’s back again this year. The tournament allows “non-professional’ anglers a chance to join a competition just for fun, but there will be plenty of cash and prizes handed out. The event is called a Dock Fishing Tournament and Pie Social, as all those who pay the $30 entry fee get to partake of a BBQ and pie social that begins at noon on Sunday, after the competition ends. There will be cash awarded to the first and second place fish in nine different categories and raffles for other prizes, too. Anglers will earn 80 percent of the entry fees for their winning catches. The event starts on Friday, September 26th at 6 p.m. and runs through 11 a.m. on Sunday. Some anglers fish all night to get an edge on their competitors. The event began three or four years ago on the whim of Mar Don Resort owner Mike Meseberg, and has grown in popularity every year. Those who wish to participate should call Mar Don Resort at 509-346-2651 for more information.
