There are two events coming up in September that anglers can both support and enjoy. The events take place on the same weekend, September 24th and 25th. The Quincy Valley Tourism Association will be holding their first Northern Pikeminnow Derby at Crescent Bar that weekend. There is an orientation for contestants at the swimming area at Crescent Bar on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. I would encourage everyone to learn more about this derby. This group put on the highly successful tagged trout derby at Burke and Quincy lakes this spring, and they have added some new twists to this derby to make it even more exciting and potentially profitable for lucky anglers. You can more information by going to my web site and clicking on the Quincy Valley ad on my Home Page. The other event is the annual conservation banquet for the Icicle Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited. This one is great fun and is the major fund raiser for this organization that does so much great work in our area. Call chapter president Dennis McMahon for tickets at 509-548-7526. There is everything from fishing trips, fishing gear and art available through the silent and live auctions.
