If you want to get some fast action for rainbow trout, consider Fish Lake, near Lake Wenatchee. I took Mike McKee, owner of Mike’s Meat and Farmers Market, and a couple of his friends out the other day and we were very busy. We fished from about 10 until 2 and landed 17 nice rainbow and one triploid that weighed at least 5 pounds! We lost a bunch of fish right at the boat and missed a lot of good hits, too. It was action packed the whole time. I tried a variety of lures, and one the hot ones was the High Lake Special that you get at the Cove Resort Store. Add a tail of a worm to this little lure and it gets fish. A good ol’ F-4 frog pattern Flatfish was another very good producer, and the triploid and other rainbow hit a small Wooly Bugger fly with a Wiggle Fin Action Disk on the front of it. We fished back and forth at the bottom end of the lake, trying to stay in about 23 feet of water. I trolled at about 1.5 to 1.7 mph on my bow mounted Minn Kota. If you want some great trout action, plan a trip to Fish Lake.
