There is a new salmon derby on the Upper Columbia River this year. It’s the first annual CCA Wenatchee River Salmon Derby, which will take place on July 13th through the 15th in Wenatchee. The summer run salmon season starts on July 1st here every year, with lots of bright kings between Rock Island and Rocky Reach dams. It’s about time there was a derby to take advantage of this. We expect a great return of summer run kings to this area again this year, so fishing should be great! Also coming up in July is the appearance of Sig Hansen, one of the skippers featured in the Discovery Channel’s popular Deadliest Catch television show.
