A note sent to the WDFW office in Region 2 was passed on to me and anglers who like to fish for salmon near the East Bank Hatchery above Rocky Reach Dam. The manager of the State Park here reminds anglers that although the official hours are from 6 a.m. to dusk, they are allowing people to access the fishing area through the park so they can fish at first light. However, it is important to know that a Discovery Pass is required to park here. Also, the park will be closed at dusk and those who are not registered as part of a camping party must vacate the park by 10 p.m. or be ticketed. This is a popular fishing area for summer salmon and steelhead later on, and the people at the State Park will continue to allow the exemption to their official hours, as long as people abide by the other rules. It is important that anglers are good stewards of this fishing area and report problems, vandalism or illegal activity. I want to thank the folks at State Parks and Chelan County PUD for allowing access to anglers for summer run salmon fishing.
