By Dave Graybill

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Looking at Dave's picture of the nice kokanee he caught on Lake Roosevelt this week makes me remember a time I fished there years ago with my Mom and Dad. I had zero idea about fishing Roosevelt for kokanee and was going to use my knowledge from fishing the species in Lake Chelan and Conconully. Thankfully, I ran into a kokanee fanatic at the launch as he was just pulling out, filled with his daily limit of two apiece for he and his wife. Del was nice enough to give me some advice and the approach. I figured the gear I had from fishing at Chelan would work and that pink and orange, according to Del, were the colors to use. As we pulled away from the launch at Spring Canyon my phone buzzed. It was a message on Facebook from Del, giving me his number to call. I called and he gave me very specific instructions on where to go. Sure enough, I followed his advice and we loaded up in short order. I also went back to the hotel and tied some stiffer line because they hit like a salmon. Until next time, Good Fishing!
