There is so much happening with fishing in our region I really don’t know which way to go. There is really great trout fishing available on many of our lakes. If you want to take the kids out for fast action, the lakes in the Quincy-George area still have plenty of trout left to catch after the opener. Roses Lake would be a good bet, too. However, the Upper Columbia, Methow and Okanogan rivers are all loaded with steelhead, and I would like to get at least one more trip in before the season closes at the end of the month. Last at this time my wife and I tried the steelhead fishing and Bridgeport and had a blast. Perch fishing should continue to be good at Moses Lake for larger fish and at Coulee City, for big numbers but smaller perch. The action on triploid rainbow trout has picked up considerable since the Tribe began their monthly plants. I would sure like to get a few of these big, fat trout for the pan or smoker. They are hard to beat. Don’t forget, new fishing licenses need to be in hand by April 1st. When you get yours don’t forget to get your Salmon and Steelhead Endorsement Stamp for 2010.
