By Dave Graybill

It’s confirmed. An all-time record number of steelhead have passed over Priest Rapids Dam. There has never been more steelhead headed for our local streams than ever before. If you want to get your share you’ll want to attend the free seminar that is being hosted by Your Town Ford at their dealership at 1001 Miller Street in Wenatchee. The seminar will feature Shane Magnuson, Upper Columbia Guide Services, who will show everyone exactly how to rig up to catch steelhead on our area rivers. I have fished for steelhead with Shane on the Wenatchee, Columbia and even the Okanogan rivers, and he really knows his stuff. Another exciting development this year has been reopening of the season for taking Chinook salmon on Lake Chelan. These are fantastic fish and no one has caught more of them this past year than Joe Heinlen of Lake Chelan Adventures. He will share what he knows about catching these beauties. Also giving a brief presentation on keeping your boat running for winter will be Max Rutger from Valley Marine. Hooked on Toys will be giving away a steelhead rod and reel set up and there will be other door prizes available to those who attend. The fun starts at 6 p.m.
