By Dave Graybill

Boy, it is hot outside, and the good news is that the fishing was hot at the Brewster Salmon Derby again this year. There were 206 entries, which is terrific when you consider the late announcement that the derby would be on this year. That put 78 boats on the water, and they weighed in a total of 261 fish! That is very good fishing in anyone’s book. This derby continues to have the highest success rate of any salmon derby I know of. I want to send a big shout out to Randy and Lori Kratzer and their crew for doing all the hard work it takes to stage this event. If you want to get all the details on the winners, you can check out my column in the NCW Nickel Ads in Wenatchee and Moses Lake, or you can log onto www.fishingderbyonline.com, and view all the winners in each of the categories. After hearing how good the fishing was in Brewster, I sure want to plan a trip up there and get in on it. Before that though I will be taking my daughter on her annual trip to Banks Lake for walleye and smallmouth bass. We love this experience together.
