I am planning to fish Potholes Reservoir for the first time this season, and when I am curious about how the walleye fishing has been on our area reservoirs, I sometimes check with Alin Smith. He does creel checks for the WDFW and has a handle on how anglers are doing on Potholes, Banks Lake and Moses Lake as well. He said he had a very good evening on Banks a week ago, fishing in the evening. He left the dock at 5:30 and was back at 7:30 with six fish. Walleye fishing has been tough, most days, on Potholes. The water has been high and cold, and the fish have been on the spawn. Hopefully that will change soon. He suggests starting in Lind Coulee. Fish often move up the coulee in the spring and the hole above the bridge can hold fish. I found them in the bay across from the island further down towards the main lake, too. I also like to look for walleye in the spring off Perch Point. Alin agreed, saying he does see a lot of boats trolling in this area. We will give it a try and I’ll let you know how we do.
